SCLEROTHERAPY

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat uncomplicated spider veins and reticular veins.

Spider veins

Very small, fine red or blue veins that are closer to the skin than varicose veins. They are typically found on the legs and face and may cover a small or large area.

Reticular veins

Also known as feeder veins, reticular veins are usually blue and green veins found beneath the surface of the skin. They enlarge due to the increased pressure in the vein and are often hereditary.

What to expect during your Sclerotherapy treatment:

A small amount of solution is injected close to the veins. This solution causes the vein to scar, forcing blood to reroute through healthier veins. Sclerotherapy works well for most patients, with 50 - 80% of injected veins being eliminated with each session. In general, spider veins tend to respond to treatment in 3 to 6 weeks, and larger veins 3 to 4 months.
